Happy Friday! Today we have a special feature and awesome giveaway by Soulful Moon, a socially conscious stationery business focused on the South Asian market. Soulful Moon donates a portion of every transaction to charity. Their customers describe their style as “ethno-chic invitations and greeting cards with just the right balance of east and west” - a perfect description!
The founder, Salwa Ansari Datoo, started the company when a family member had a large celebration that required a lot of invitations. She designed an invitation for fun and it generated so much excitement because it was contemporary, but also Eastern. Their goal is to keep expanding their stationery product line to serve the South Asian markets.
They are deepening their collection of stationery that caters to weddings and related events, bridal and baby showers, kids events, graduations, photo card birth announcements, save the dates, corporate events, religious functions, etc. They are also working to create a line of related products that compliment the themes of their current cards such as small gift items and party favor items.
Today, Soulful Moon has offered a $50 gift certificate to one special Shaadi Obsession reader! All you have to do is:
- "Like" their Facebook page
- Leave a comment below on what you love about their designs, and how you would use their services.
The giveaway will be open until next Friday, August 9th, and a winner will be announced on Monday, August 12th! Good luck!
Love these invitations, so unique and perfect for the South Asian American bride! For more information please visit www.soulfulmoon.com and become a fan on Facebook: www.facebook.com/soulfulmoon

Lately I’ve been to weddings where the friends of the couple have really gone above and beyond preparing entertaining games, funny skits or flash mobs to show their friends their love. Well, here’s a new idea to celebrate your friends wedding as their biggest fans (I love today’s feature - so much, that I will likely place an order for my next friend’s wedding!).
The Wakhtarrr Paper Company has created a fun accessory for bridesmaids, groomsmen, friends and families attending weddings to show their love for the couple. Custom cartoon tattoos of brides and grooms! They were a hit at a recent Mehndi party of this lovely couple, Zairah and Nick.
The temporary tattoos are safe, FDA certified colorants. All you have to do is provide a photo of the bride and groom. It will be “cartoonized” for your approval and then printed!
Check out the Etsy Store here. Shaadi Obsession readers will receive 20% off on custom orders placed before September 1st! Just use the code ShaadiObsession20 at checkout. Your bride and groom-to-be friends will love this!

I discovered Rifle Paper Co.’s designs at a local boutique in Jersey City, Kanibal Home. They have the prettiest floral iPhone case designs and so I explored their other products. They sell lovely cards, stationery, calendars, and are now starting custom wedding products. Check out some of their custom designs, a variety of options to choose from such as a wedding map, programs, invitations and more!

I’m excited to finally feature an up and coming India-based wedding papier artist, Vineeta of Po Tweet stationery. Vineeta has some wonderfully creative designs for wedding stationery packages including save the dates, invitations, to wedding backdrops! Creative personalized stationery is a relatively new service in India, so I asked Vineeta how she got started in the business, and how she typically works with clients. Here’s what she had to say:
From Vineeta ~
"I’m from an advertising [agency]. And when you’re in an agency, you do as the clients want. So as a break from the norm, I used to create small invitations to parties, birthdays, etc. for my friends. People love personalized stuff, I realized. Then, a friend of mine was getting married and she asked me to make a wedding e-vite for her close friends only. I did and it was a hit. I got a few calls and was offered money. I wasn’t serious then, so i didn’t take up any.
Then i made my own Engagement card, got it printed and handed it out. It was a massive hit. People actually framed it. That is when I realized I could take this up professionally. And I did.
You see, there are hoards of glittery, embellished, loud, bright wedding cards available in the market. But its not exclusive. Something you may order can be ordered by another couple too. And a wedding is mostly a one time thing. So why not something unique, personalized and fresh. So Po Tweet came into existence.
I usually thrive on the small details and story of the couple. A joke between them that friends know. An incident. A memory. Some stark resemblance. Or the classic ‘opposites attract’ case. Anything and everything is a story and dope for the card. After they tell me their story, I pick on something or a series of something and come up with a couple of ideas. After sharing with the couple, we together freeze on one idea and i start execution. I show couple of rough drafts and then the final is done. There is a choice of me getting it printed or the couple doing it themselves. I charge for the idea-design-execution. Printing charges are separate, depending on paper quality, printing techniques and fabrication. Caricature charges are separate too.
Its comparatively a new thing in India and slowly people are opening up to these kind of non-traditional ideas. So I operate only from my Facebook page and email address as of now. Once a couple agrees to work with me, i pass my mobile phone number to them, so co-ordination and communication is easier. And by God’s grace if this idea takes off well, i intend to have a website soon.”
I just love how creative and unique every piece is. Truly one of a kind for each client! Vineeta is based in India, but takes international client inquiries. She also does anniversaries, birthdays or other special events! Contact Po Tweet for your personalized stationery needs!
P.S. Thanks Sudeepthi for putting us in touch!
