Personalized Wedding Stationery ~ Po Tweet
I’m excited to finally feature an up and coming India-based wedding papier artist, Vineeta of Po Tweet stationery. Vineeta has some wonderfully creative designs for wedding stationery packages including save the dates, invitations, to wedding backdrops! Creative personalized stationery is a relatively new service in India, so I asked Vineeta how she got started in the business, and how she typically works with clients. Here’s what she had to say:

“I’m from an advertising [agency]. And when you’re in an agency, you do as the clients want. So as a break from the norm, I used to create small invitations to parties, birthdays, etc. for my friends. People love personalized stuff, I realized. Then, a friend of mine was getting married and she asked me to make a wedding e-vite for her close friends only. I did and it was a hit. I got a few calls and was offered money. I wasn’t serious then, so i didn’t take up any.
Then i made my own Engagement card, got it printed and handed it out. It was a massive hit. People actually framed it. That is when I realized I could take this up professionally. And I did.
You see, there are hoards of glittery, embellished, loud, bright wedding cards available in the market. But its not exclusive. Something you may order can be ordered by another couple too. And a wedding is mostly a one time thing. So why not something unique, personalized and fresh. So Po Tweet came into existence.
I usually thrive on the small details and story of the couple. A joke between them that friends know. An incident. A memory. Some stark resemblance. Or the classic ‘opposites attract’ case. Anything and everything is a story and dope for the card. After they tell me their story, I pick on something or a series of something and come up with a couple of ideas. After sharing with the couple, we together freeze on one idea and i start execution. I show couple of rough drafts and then the final is done. There is a choice of me getting it printed or the couple doing it themselves. I charge for the idea-design-execution. Printing charges are separate, depending on paper quality, printing techniques and fabrication. Caricature charges are separate too.
Its comparatively a new thing in India and slowly people are opening up to these kind of non-traditional ideas. So I operate only from my Facebook page and email address as of now. Once a couple agrees to work with me, i pass my mobile phone number to them, so co-ordination and communication is easier. And by God’s grace if this idea takes off well, i intend to have a website soon.”
